"Movements and Shadows" is inspired by his relocation to Los Angeles. It explores the human journey through vulnerability and resilience. The painting uses bold colour combinations and schematic, geometric shapes to reflect on life's uneven landscapes, emotional fragility, and the strength needed to rise above challenging.
The main themes of the piece include the Interplay of Light and Darkness which reflects on the human impulse toward illumination and growth, contrasting light against the inherent "shadows" of grief and chaos. In terms of emotional fragility and resilience, the painting captures the artist's feeling of being at one's most vulnerable, while possessing the strength to keep pushing forward.
The abstract representation is of course, metaphoric. Rather than painting literal subjects, he uses bold brushstrokes, simplified geometric forms, and colour to translate emotions ranging from calmness to visceral pain.
