The Fires We Remember was painted in early 2025 as part of the Earthscape Collection of Commissioned pieces
The Fires We Remember was born out of the lost and devastions of the January 2025 Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, California that inflicted severe, far-reaching psychological trauma, widespread residential disruption, and a sharp decline in institutional trust throughout the community. The disaster killed 12 people, destroyed over 6,800 structures, and forced massive regional evacuations. This piece was purchased by a family member of one of the surviver of the atrocity who is currently rebuilding her home and is currently being kept by the artist in his home for the owner at request.
The artist shares a deep understanding of the event, having survived a building fire in London, England in 2001.
